Job Description

Summary / Objectives 

This position is responsible for product packaging. This includes general packaging, stacking, lifting and moving materials through equipment. This position follows standard work practices and practices safe work habits to maximize production efficiency and safety.

Level 1 - cheese packaging, box making;

Level 2 - Cheese packaging, making boxes capable of accommodating at least one washing/turning line or chain of cheeses;

Level 3 - cheese packaging, box making and the ability to start or disinfect all lines; Deputy group leader.

Main responsibilities:

Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform basic functions.

• Make sure the machines are installed and that you have paper, drums and boxes suitable for the product you are going to package;

• Help you safely and efficiently change material on the line to reduce downtime;

• Random inspection and withdrawal of products and packaging that do not meet our quality requirements;

• Manage the workflow of a group of 3 or more people;

• Place the product on the pallet, making sure that the scheme is correct;

• Collects boxes for manual packaging of products;

• Use metal detection equipment and x-ray equipment as needed;

• Help and support from colleagues when communication is not working;

• Visual control of the code, seals, packaging in the production process. Notifies the operator of the deviation and makes corrections;

• Fills in all necessary documents;

• actively participates within the method of continuous improvement;

• Be at the workplace at the right time.

Level 2 and 3 above

• Able to turn their machines into the right product;

• Ability to set the video stream to the correct date;

• Possibility of carrying out scheduled repairs of equipment as needed;

• Ability to perform basic adjustments and repairs on boxes, labelers (including refills), boxes and conveyors, check levels and refill containers with adhesive during shifts.

Working Environment:

In the performance of his duties, the employee works in a production environment subject to the following conditions:

Intermittent exposure to hot or cold climates;

accidental exposure to chemicals;
 
frequent exposure to noise and vibration;

Intermittent exposure to dampness and dampness.

Physical Need:

The physical requirements described here represent those that a worker must meet in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

In the line of duty, the physical requirements are as follows:

standing - repeatedly;

slouch / slouch - repeatedly;

climbing stairs or stairs - sometimes;

stretching - at chest level, up or down - sometimes;

Clean and jerk - 50 lbs. often;

Job Type / Expected Hours of Operation:

This is a full time position. Days and times vary by shift and department. Sometimes overtime and weekend work is required. Vacation coverage as needed.

Compulsory Education and Experience:

• Ability to talk, read, write and perceive English.

Requires education and experience

• Experience in food production;

• High school diploma or equivalent;

• Basic mathematical and computer tools;

• Ability to work without direct supervision;

• Able to follow instructions.
